Author Guidelines

Readership

Jeltim is published as an international journal. Readers of Jeltim are scholars, teachers, and students whose interests are in ELT, teaching innovation, and teaching materials.

General information concerning submissions

We have set up a web-based online submission system for articles and we can now only accept contributions through this system.

Authors are not allowed to make multiple submissions of the same article to different journals at the same time. We hope that you will have written a submission especially for the specific readership of Jeltim, so please do not send it to other journals until you have heard back from us. Articles must not contain libellous or defamatory material.

Please do not send more than one submission at a time. Jeltim will only publish one article per author in each issue of the online journal.

All submissions received are blind reviewed by members of the Editorial Team. In order to maintain anonymity during the peer review process, please avoid stating your name when making a reference to your own work, either in the text or References, and use ‘Author’ instead.

Before you consider submitting your article to Jeltim, please familiarize yourself with the Journal and the type of article we publish.

Manuscript Procedure Time
How much time is needed in an article review process?

Upon submitting your manuscript to Jeltim, you will promptly receive an acknowledgment of its receipt. On average, an article could be prepared for publication within 18 weeks after submission. However, the expeditiousness of authors in addressing reviewer feedback typically influences the pace at which articles are readied for publication.

Subsequently, we require approximately 7-10 days to secure responses from one editor and a minimum of two reviewers. The article processing time may span 100-180 days, contingent upon your expeditious adherence to the editor's and reviewers' comments and recommendations. Following the progression of your revisions, notification regarding the potential continuation of the review and revision processes or the rejection of your submission will be conveyed within 100-130 days from the submission date. Finally, approximately 180 days after your submission, you can anticipate receiving a letter of acceptance, specifying the volume in which your article will be published in the Jeltim journal.

Articles

We welcome articles that draw on innovations and materials in English language teaching. experience with new methods, techniques, materials, syllabuses, means of assessment, approaches to teacher training, and other areas of professional interest are also acceptable.

We are interested in receiving articles that describe carefully planned and executed development and experimental research, provided that they are designed to throw light on a topic which is itself of interest to our readers.

We are also glad to receive articles which deal with the issues implicit in English language teaching in context, e.g. the effects of educational policy, aspects of management, the planning and development of projects, review and evaluation procedures, cultural aspects of ELT, action research, and so on.

Contributors are asked to take into account the following important factors when writing their articles:

  • Articles should be of interest and relevance to the readers of Jeltim.
  • They should be clearly and coherently written so that the contents are internally consistent and accessible to the readership.
  • Jeltim is a journal of primary research. However, there are possiblities of publishing theoretical/critical reviews. Descriptions of practice should be related to underlying theoretical principles; theoretical concepts should be clarified by reference to their practical applications.
  • Articles that deal with a particular teaching or learning context should have clear implications for people working in a wide variety of different situations.
  • Articles must demonstrate an awareness of other and recent work carried out in the area on which they report.
  • The presentation and discussion of data must not pre-suppose more than a basic knowledge of statistics or of specialized terminology.
  • Care must be taken not to over-reference articles by supplying lists of sources which contain more than the key references. Articles should contain no more than 40 references. Of these, no more than two should relate to the author’s own work.

Correspondence

We welcome letters from readers in response to published articles, features, and reviews. Letters must be a maximum of 500 words and may be edited for length or content.

Preparing an article

In preparing your article, please pay close attention to the following:

Authors
All authors will be listed on the first page of the article. In the case of multiple authorship, names will appear in the order in which contributors give them, even if that order is not alphabetical. For purposes of online tagging, please ensure author names are supplied with the first name first, followed by the surname or family name.

Length
Articles of 12-22 pages (bibiography and appendix do not count) in length are preferred. It is not possible for us to accept articles over 22 pages long.

Style
Please try to make your article as easy to read as possible. Use short headings and subheadings to make the structure of your article clear. If appropriate, illustrate your article with examples, diagrams, tables, etc. If you introduce a term which you think may not be familiar to some readers, give a short definition in a note at the end of the article. The use of "he" and "his", "she" and "her" is acceptable only when a definite person is being referred to. Please use "he" or "she", "his" or "hers"; "they" or "them"; or plural nouns, e.g. "students", "teachers", etc.

Percentages in the text are normally given as whole numbers, e.g. "27 per cent", but can be given with decimal points in tables/figures where necessary.

Manuscript Quality Evaluation

Only high quility articles are published in Jeltim. Evaluate your manuscript before submitting to this journal. In general, you may refer to these items when evaluating the quality of your manuscript.

  1. Title Precision: The article title effectively encapsulates the research's findings, results, methods, or research models, while preserving an element of novelty without explicit disclosure of the research subject.
  2. Abstract Clarity: The abstract is succinct and clear, encompassing all vital components such as background, research/article objectives, research methods/approach, research findings, and conclusions. It refrains from including unexplained abbreviations or citations.
  3. Keyword Relevance: A minimum of three and a maximum of five specific keywords are furnished, reflecting the core essence of the article. Keywords are devoid of non-explained abbreviations, unless widely recognized and understood.
  4. Literature Integration: The Introduction section includes a State of the Art or a review of pertinent literature from the last decade to underpin the novelty of the research. A conspicuous gap analysis or research gap is outlined, with unequivocal articulation of research objectives. A coherent connection between the state of the art, research gap, and objectives is established, anchored by substantial supporting literature. The research's novelty is highlighted, emphasizing significance and situating within the ongoing discourse.
  5. Gap Addressing: The manuscript effectively addresses knowledge gaps demanding resolution. The potential and benefits are clearly expounded, with research findings demonstrating significant relevance in advancing scientific, technological, and artistic knowledge, while also offering societal contributions.
  6. Detailed Findings: The article presents a comprehensive description of research outcomes and findings. Findings are thoroughly detailed, elucidating both quantitative and qualitative aspects. These findings encompass the core discoveries and empirical results, emphasizing their significance in the broader context of the study.
  7. Analytical Discussions: Discussions comprehensively interpret the research's outcomes, comparing and contrasting them with relevant prior studies. A robust analysis of the findings is conducted, exploring their implications, patterns, and anomalies. The discussions delve into the theoretical, practical, and methodological implications of the research results, fostering an enriched understanding of the topic.
  8. Concise Conclusions: Conclusions lucidly encapsulate primary findings, remaining aligned with the research objectives. Conclusions are articulated through narrative paragraphs, evading a listing format. The section may also address unresolved inquiries or propose avenues for future research.
  9. Reference Credibility: The manuscript integrates a minimum of 20 pertinent references (preferably from reputable sources), with approximately 80% originating from recent sources published within the last decade (ideally not exceeding 5 years) before article submission. Over 80% of references are derived from primary sources, such as journals and proceedings of international conferences endorsed by professional associations in the domain.
  10. Visual Quality: Tables, figures, formulas, and supplementary tools adhere to established scientific norms, maintaining excellent quality and legibility. Each table, figure, formula, or cited tool is confined within a single page, refraining from spanning multiple pages as cited in the article.
  11. Linguistic Precision: The language employed is scholarly English, demonstrating heightened accuracy in vocabulary and grammar, thereby ensuring a polished and comprehensible presentation of research.
  12. The Editor does not undertake to return any copies of the manuscript. Contributors are advised to retain at least one copy for themselves.
  13. Contributions to Jeltim are sent to members of the Editorial Team and acceptance is dependent upon their recommendation for publication. Within approximately three months of receiving it, the Editor will try to let you know whether, and if possible when, your contribution will be published.

  15. The Editor reserves the right to make editorial changes in any manuscript accepted for publication to enhance style or clarity. A copy-edited version of the article will be sent to authors for approval, and should be returned with comments and/or corrections by the given date. Please, therefore, give your full address, fax number, and email address (if available).
  16. The Editor will assume that an article submitted for consideration has not been previously published, and is not being considered for publication elsewhere, either in the submitted form or in a modified version.
