ABSTRACT

This study aims to get the composition of charcoal husk and sawdust media which gives the best growth and yield of cherry tomato in hydroponics. The research was conducted at Pontianak, West Borneo. This research conducted from 29th December 2017 to 22nd March 2018. The experimental  design used in this study was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD).There were 5  treatments, had 3 plants, 5 replictions, so total plants was 75 plants. Namely:  m1 = 20%    charcoal husk : 80% sawdust (1 : 4 v/v), m2 = 40% charcoal husk: 60% sawdust (2 : 3 v/v), m3 = 50% charcoal husk : 50% sawdust (1 : 1 v/v), m4 = 60% charcoal husk : 40% sawdust (3 : 2 v/v),  m5 = 80% charcoal husk : 20% sawdust (4 : 1 v/v). The variables observed in this study include plant height, flowering age, dry weight of plants, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight per plant and number of fruit stalks (stalk). Supporting variabels including temperature and humidity. The results of study concluded that the composition of the husk and sawdust charcoal media can increase growth but cannot increase the yield of cherry tomatoes. Efficient composition for growth with treatment  m4 = 60% husk charcoal : 40% sawdust seen in increasing dry weight of plants.
