PEER REVIEW PROCESS AND EDITORIAL DECISIONS

The editorial staff reads all submitted manuscripts. Manuscripts that are judged not to be in accordance with the criteria of the journal by the editor are immediately rejected without external review. Manuscripts that are judged to be potentially of interest to our readers are sent to double-blind reviewers. The editor then makes a decision based on the reviewer's recommendation from several possibilities: rejected, requires major revision, requires minor revision, or is accepted.

The Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Environment, Architecture, and Society has the right to decide which manuscripts submitted to the journal will be published.

 Review Process:

  1. The author submits the manuscript
  2. Editor Evaluation (some manuscripts were rejected or returned before the review process)
  3. Proses peer review double-blind
  4. Editor's Decision
  5. Confirmation to the author

Screening For Plagiarism

Plagiarism Policy

The Marathon Journal Editorial Team realizes that plagiarism is unacceptable and therefore establishes the following policy stating specific actions (sanctions) after plagiarism/similarity is identified in articles submitted for publication in Marathon Journal. Marathon Journal will use the originality checking software iThenticate as a tool in detecting similarities in text in the article manuscript and the final version of the article ready for publication. A maximum of 20% similarity is allowed for submitted papers. If we find more than 20% similarity index, the article will be returned to the author for correction and resubmission.

Withdrawal of Manuscripts

Article Withdrawal

Used only for Articles in Press that are early versions of articles and may contain errors, or may have been submitted twice inadvertently. Occasionally, but less frequently, such articles may represent violations of professional ethics, such as multiple submissions, false claims of authorship, plagiarism, fraudulent use of data, or the like. Articles in Press (articles that have been accepted for publication but have not yet been formally published and do not yet have complete volume/issue/page information) that contain errors, or are found to be unintentional duplicates of other published articles, or are determined to violate our journal's publishing ethics guidelines in the editor's opinion (such as multiple submissions, false claims of authorship, plagiarism, fraudulent use of data, or the like). Withdrawn means that the article content (HTML and PDF) is removed and replaced with HTML and PDF pages that simply state that the article has been withdrawn in accordance with Elsevier's Policy on Withdrawal of Articles in Press with a link to the current policy document.

Article Retraction

Violations of professional ethics, such as multiple submissions, false claims of authorship, plagiarism, fraudulent use of data, or the like. Sometimes a retraction will be used to correct errors in submission or publication. Retraction of an article by its authors or editors on the advice of members of the scientific community has long been an occasional feature of the learned world. Standards for handling retractions have been developed by a number of libraries and scientific bodies, and this best practice is adopted for article retractions by Marathon Journals :
  1. A retraction note with the heading “Retraction: [article title]” signed by the author and/or editor is published in the journal’s next issue and included in the table of contents.
  2. In the electronic version, a link is made to the original article.
  3. The online article begins with a screen containing the retraction note. This screen is where the link is directed; readers can then proceed to the article itself.
  4. The original article is retained unchanged, except for a watermark on the .pdf indicating on each page that the article is “retracted.”
  5. The HTML version of the document is removed.
Article Removal: legal restrictions

In a very limited number of cases, it may be necessary to remove an article from an online database. This will only happen if the article is clearly defamatory, or infringes the legal rights of others, or if the article is, or we have good reason to believe, likely to be the subject of a court order, or if the article, if acted upon, could pose a serious health risk. In these circumstances, although the metadata (Title and Author) will be retained, the text will be replaced with a screen indicating that the article has been removed for legal reasons.
