AN ANALYSIS OF PERLOCUTIONARY ACTS ON TWEEPS’ REPLY IN TWITTER

Abstract


This study aims to describe the perlocutionary act of tweeps’ reply in the twitter account of @DudespostingWs. Reveals how the verb of perlocutionary acts are in the replies of @DudespostingWs’ posts. This research was conducted using a descriptive qualitative method because the data studied are in the form of language in the Twitter. The research method used is the theory of Creswell (2014) which defines a qualitative methodology. The process of presenting the data in the form of a table then the researcher describe the utterances that contains perlocutionary written by the tweeps. The source of the data was obtained from the replies in the twitter account of @DudespostingWs’s post and it was collected by looking the replies and taking note, then the data were analyzed by some steps they were preparation, data collection and data analysis. The data of this research were 76 replies. The finding showed that there were 76 perlocutionary acts belong to their verbs which consist 5 verbs to persuade, 2 verbs to deceive, 32 verbs to encourage, 7 verbs to irritate, 1 verb to frighten, 10 verbs to amuse, 7 verbs to embarrass, 12 verbs to attract attention.
