ANALISIS PELAKSANAAN TRADISI ADAT PERKAWINAN MASYARAKAT MELAYU DI DUSUN BUMI ASIH KABUPATEN SAMBAS
Abstract
This reseach aims to describe the implementation of the Malay
Traditional Marriage Tradition in Bumi Asih Hamlet, Sambas
Regency. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive-
ethnographic approach. The results of this reseach showing, (1) the
Marriage Tradition of the Sambas Malay Society consists of three
stages. First, the stage before marriage include the stages of bepari-
pari, asking, cikram, between goods. Second, the marriage
ceremony which consist of the stage of the marriage contract, the
day of cutting, the big day consisting of the host’s welcome, the
reading of al-barzanji, the greeting representation the invitation,
belarak, besurrong, saprahan, duduk tembangan, makan
seperindukan. Third, the post-wedding ceremony which includes
repatriating, turning mats, wasting and running the bride and groom
which is the last stage of the traditional marriage tradition of the
Sambas Malay community. (2) The stages that undergo changes
are, bepari-pari, ask, between goods, bepallam, berinai, belarak,
duduk tembangan, repatriating, turning the mats, running the bride,
and wasting. (3) Factors that influence changes in marriage
traditions, namely the development of the times, economic factors,
and people’s mindsets. (4) The community’s efforts in preserving
the traditional marriage tradition start from forming an arisan or
paco’an, borrowing, working together in ngunjam tarup, making
paun, making overhangs, and meteng.
