PERAN GURU SENI BUDAYA DALAM MENGEMBANGAKAN MINAT DAN BAKAT PADA EKSTRAKURIKULER SENI MUSIK DI SMA NEGERI 2 PONTIANAK

Abstract


This research is motivated by the need for the cultural arts teacher's role in developing the interests and talents of students. This research raises the question of what is the role of teachers and what factors influence the development of students' interests and talents. This study aims to describe the role of teachers in SMA Negeri 2 Pontianak and the contributing factors in the development of interest and talent in musical art extracurriculars. The method used in this study is descriptive. Research data were collected from school principal, cultural arts teachers, drum coaches, and students, through observation, interview, and recording techniques. The data collection tools are the researcher as a central tool, and the instruments for interview, observation, and recording. Data was validated through extensive observations, technique triangulation, and sources triangulation. Data analysis followed the steps of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The findings indicate that arts and culture teacher’s role in developing students' interests and talents is to facilitate, manage and demonstrate the learning process, assess learning outcomes, and motivate students' interest in learning. Influencing factors in the development of students' interests and talents in extracurricular musical activities are students' personalities, school facilities, family, and social environment. This study should be beneficial to researchers and readers and could serve as a reference for future research.
