EFEKTIVITAS MEDIA APLIKASI PHET SIMULATIONS DALAM MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN NUMERASI PESERTA DIDIK SD TERKAIT MATERI PECAHAN
Abstract
Numeracy skills is a basic that must be possessed by students to think logically and systematically. Based on preliminary studies that have been carried out in elementary schools, students' numeracy skills especially in fractions, still need to be improved because are still not as expected. The lack of learning media and less encouraging students to find their own concepts of the material being studied are the causes. It is important for students to understand concepts directly by manipulating concrete objects in order to be able to analyze and determine how to solve problems and then inform others with mathematical concepts, because this can improve numeracy skills. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using the PhET Simulations application media in improving the numeracy skills of elementary school students related to fractions. This study uses a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The data in this study were obtained from the pre-test and post-test for the experimental class and control class, as well as from the questionnaire responses of the experimental class students after being given treatment. Data analysis used two-sample paired and independent case hypothesis testing, and three-sample case hypothesis testing. The results showed that the PhET Simulations application media to mathematics learning with fractions could improve the numeracy skills of fourth grade students, give a higher impact on numeracy skills, and give the same effect on the numeracy skills of groups of students based on academic abilities in mathematics in the experimental class.
