ANALYZING EFL STUDENTS' LEARNING ENGAGEMENT IN THE ONLINE LEARNING PROCESS

Abstract


 The main purpose of this study was to find out SMAN 3 Pontianak students’ engagement in the online EFL classroom. Specifically, there were four aspects of engagement that has been investigated: behavioral, social, cognitive, and emotional engagement. In order to achieve the research purpose, the measurement, observation, and documentation techniques have been conducted to collect the data. The findings revealed that students’ overall learning engagement in the English subject was in the moderate level. Then, it was also analyzed and interpreted that students had high level of behavioral and cognitive engagement, followed by moderate level of social and emotional engagement.
