DESIGNING EXTENSIVE READING MATERIALS FROM SAMBAS LOCAL STORIES TO ENHANCE STUDENTS’ READING INTEREST
Abstract
This was development study with the goal of designing extensive reading materials from sambas local stories to enhance students’ reading interests in TKJ A of SMKN 2 Teluk Keramat’s first grade. This study included both students and teachers as participants. Interviews, questionnaires, documentation, and internal assessment were employed as instruments. The researcher employed the ADDIE technique in this study, which involves five phases. Only three phases of the research were used, which were analysis, design, and development. The product was designed and developed entirely based on the interests and demands of the students. The findings of this study revealed that: 1) the book design of Sambas local stories as a result of extensive reading materials in this research yielded satisfactory results with a percentage of 90%; and 2) the book content of Sambas local stories as a result of extensive reading materials in this research yielded satisfactory results with a percentage of 96%. Thus, the extensive reading materials from sambas local stories possibly enhance students reading interest.
