Abstract

This research aims to determine the role of parents in motivating learning by providing education and providing learning facilities for their children enrolled as junior high school students in Sebetung Menyala Village, Teriak District of Bengkayang Regency. The form of research used in this study is qualitative, with the data sourced from the students’ parents (primary) and photo documentation (secondary). The data collection techniques used are observation, interview, and documentation. The results showed that (1) parents’ roles in motivating learning by providing education to learners are positive, although there are still some parents who do not manage to accompany and remind their children to do schoolwork and lack discipline in learning. (2) The role of parents in motivating learning by providing learning facilities for learners is still insufficient, because there are some unfulfilled learning facilities such as study rooms, tables, and chairs, possibly due to financial problems. However, parents have fulfilled their school needs such as school uniforms, stationery, textbooks, shoes, bags, and pocket money.
