Abstract

This study aims to determine the skills of teachers in implementing variations in teaching
styles in sociology learning in class XI IIS at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Pontianak. This
research method uses qualitative research methods with descriptive research form. The
data source of this research is the Sociology subject teacher for Class XI IIS 1 at SMA
Muhammadiyah 1 Pontianak. The results showed that the variation in the teaching style
of the sociology teacher at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Pontianak was very good, but there
were a few short comings made by the teacher regarding voice variations. This good
teaching style variety is shown by the enthusiasm of the students during the learning
process where the teacher provides a question and answer session and some students are
able to correctly answer the questions given by the teacher. Even though during the
learning process there were several obstacles experienced by the teacher, such as an
uncontrolled online classroom atmosphere, the teacher was ableto properly implement
several components of the variation of teaching styles including, concentration of
attention, pointofview, movement and expression.
