EKSPLORASI ETNOMATEMATIKA DALAM MENGANYAM CAPING MASYARAKAT DAYAK RIBUN

There’s no attempt to connected formal mathematics and contextual mathematics in
formal educational institutions, It caused mathematics was claimed as a difficult
subject. To understand mathematics, student had to connected formal mathematics
and informal mathematics. This study aims to reveal the ethnomatematics contained
in the caping weaving activity of the Dayak Ribun community . The subjects of this
study were they had knowledge and experience in caping weaving, they are Sherina
and Martina Pain. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive method
with exploration study as a research form. The results showed that there was ethno-
mathematical content in the caping weaving activities of the Dayak Ribun community
is counting, measuring, designing, locating, and explaining. The mathematical content
from the caping weaving activity is the shape of pandan leaves had been processed
was related to cones and tubes, the shape of the caping was related to cone and tube
(space structure), social aritmatic in economic value.
