Abstract

The problems discussed in this study were the inventory, form, lexical meaning, cultural meaning, and the preparation of a marine fauna glossary in the Sambas Malay language. The purpose of this study was to describe all marine fauna lexicons in the Malay language Sambas which were divided into two categories, namely fish and non-fish. This study uses a descriptive method in a qualitative form. Sources of data in this study are native speakers of the Malay language Sambas who understand the lexicon of marine fauna. The data in this study were the lexicon of marine fauna in the fish and non-fish categories. Data collection techniques are interview techniques, note-taking techniques, recording techniques, and documentation techniques. Based on the overall ecolexical data of marine fauna in Sambas Malay language totaling 119 lexicons, the classification consists of fish totaling 91 lexicons and non-fish totaling 28 lexicons. Ecolexical form of marine fauna consists of monomorphemic, polymorphemic, and phrases. The most dominant form is the monomorphemic form in the category of nouns totaling 62 lexicons with a percentage of 52%. The polymorphemic form in the form of affixation amounted to 3 lexicons with a percentage of 2.5%. The form of the phrase amounted to 54 lexicons with a percentage of 42.5%. The ecolexical of the marine fauna as a whole has 80 lexical meanings and 119 lexicons cultural meanings. This research is related to Indonesian Language Subjects in SMP class VII Curriculum 2013 semester 1 which is suggested to be a reference for contextual text material. The text produced in this study is a descriptive text about Ikan Ajohan and a procedural text on Cara Membuat Bakso Ikan Tenggiri.
