Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the application of the Course Review
Horay model with the use of the learning model that is commonly used by social studies
teachers in class IX C SMP Negeri 6 Pontianak. Effectiveness is measured by looking at
differences in learning outcomes of class IX C students at SMP Negeri 6 Pontianak before and
after using the Course Review Horay model. The Course Review Horay model has advantages
such as, learning is more interesting and fun so that learning is not monotonous. In addition,
learning will encourage students to be more enthusiastic about learning and active, and foster
teamwork skills. The form of research used is the One Group Pretest-Posttes Designt. The
subjects in this study were 30 students at SMP Negeri 6 Pontianak class IX C, as well as one
teacher who teaches social studies subjects. Data collection tools in this study were multiple
choice test results and observation sheets. Based on the results of the trials that were given to
students during the study, the post-test average score was 77.67 and the pre-test score was
54.16. And the standard deviation of the pre-test value is 9,206. In this study, the value of the
effect size is 2.55, so based on the applicable criteria, the value of this effect size is classified
in the high category because it is> 1.00. So, it can be concluded that the Course Review Horay
model is effectively applied to the social studies subject for class IX C students of SMP Negeri
6 Pontianak.
