Abstract

This study entitled The Role of Teachers in Developing Students' Critical Thinking Through the PBL Model in Sociology Learning at MA Almustaqim. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of the teacher in developing students' critical thinking at MA Al Mustaqim and the results of the use of the PBL model by the teacher. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative research method. The data sources of this study were two teachers who used the PBL model, Mrs. Riska and Mr. Suryadi. The research data was obtained by conducting interviews with informants who had applied the PBL learning model at MA Almustaqim. The results of this study indicate that the teacher's role in developing good student critical thinking can be seen from the teacher's critical questions given to students to stimulate critical thinking and the teacher forms groups in the class so that students can exchange ideas to make it easier to solve a problem. given by the teacher and not only that the teacher also told students to present the results of problem solving that had been completed by the groups earlier.While the results of using the PBL model by the teacher at MA Almustaqim were good seen when the learning process took place many students were active in the class XI IPS 1 and XI IPS 2 in terms of asking and answering questions that have been given by Mrs. Riska and Mr. Suryadi.
