Abstract


Abstract This research on the archaic vocabulary of Ketapang Malay language aims to find archaic words and to see the factors of the arrogance of words in Ketapang Malay. This study focuses on 238 words taken from several corpuses. Thirty questionnaires were submitted to the bilingual and / or monolingual speakers of the Ketapang Malay community. The data were tested through three research scales, namely (a) still using, (b) never heard of but never used, and (c) never heard and never used. The purpose of this study was to examine the status of the archaicism of the data in research based on the corpus of monolingual / bilingual situations and syntactic and semantic images of the archaic vocabulary that have been found. The method used in this research is descriptive method with simple qualitative and quantitative research in the form of a percentage. The results of this study indicate that some words that were actively used in the past are still used today, there are a number of words that fall into the semiarchaic category and there are words that have become archaic. Words were more prevalent at a young age, both in monolingual and / or bilingual speakers. Keywords: Arkais, Corpus, Ketapang Malay, Poetry, Vocabulary
