Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of parenting style on the independent character of children aged 5-6 years in Al-Azhar 21 Pontianak Islamic Kindergarten. The method used in this research is a quantitative form of quantitative-correlational research. The number of samples used was 30 parents of children aged 5-6 years. The research location was conducted in AlAzhar 21 kindergarten in Pontianak. Data collection techniques used questionnaires and documentation. The validity of the data used the Moment Product Correlation technique. The reliability of the data used Croncbach's Alpha technique. The data from the questionnaire were analyzed using correlation analysis. The results of the correlation analysis show that the r value of the authoritarian parenting variable X1 is 0.943> rt 0.423 has a significant effect between authoritarian parenting on children's independent character, the r value of the permissive parenting variable X2 is 0.880> rt 0.423 has a significant effect between permissive parenting patterns on independent character, and the value of r variable X3 of variable parenting is 0.958> rt 0.423 has a significant effect between democratic parenting on the independent character of children aged 5-6 years at Al-Azhar 21 Islamic Kindergarten.
