Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of playing sand media on the development of creativity of children aged 5-6 years at TK Islamiyah Pontianak. The method used in this research is experimental and control methods through pretest and posttest, with qualitative and quantitative approaches. The sample consisted of 38 children from 2 classes. The research location is in TK Islamiyah, Pontianak. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis technique used the pretest posttest and t-test to determine the difference between the experimental and control groups. The pretest results of the experimental class obtained an average value of fluency=1.63, flexibility=1.47, authenticity=1.52, and elaboration=1.42, namely the underdeveloped category. The posttest results obtained fluency=2.63, flexibility=2.52, authenticity=2.63, and elaboration=2.89, namely the category begins to develop, develop as expected. The results of the control class pretest obtained fluency=1.47, flexibility=1.47, authenticity=1.63, and elaboration=1.47, namely the underdeveloped category. The posttest results obtained fluency=1.89, flexibility= 1.94, authenticity=2.21, and elaboration=1.89, namely the category has not developed, and is starting to develop. From the results of the research above, it shows that there is an effect of playing with sand media on the development of creativity of group B children at TK Islamiyah Pontianak.
