Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of a contextual teaching & learning on student learning outcomes in thematic learning in grade IV SDN16 Pontianak Selatan. This study used an experimental method with the form of a Quasi Experimental Design. The population in this study totaling 62 students.Data collection techniques using measurement techniques.  The research instrument used was an objective written test.  Based on the calculations, the average post-test learning outcomes of the control class are 70.37 and the average post-test learning outcomes of the experimental class is 77.50 so that the post-test data is obtained at 3.6564 with a significance level of a = 5% and dk = 60 for 2,000, because (3.6564)> (2,000) then Ha is accepted. There is a significant effect on the use of a contextual teaching & learning to student learning outcomes in the fourth grade thematic learning of SD Negeri 16 Pontianak Selatan.  From the calculation of the effect size it’s obtained 0.66 (moderate criteria). This means that the use of a contextual teaching & learning has a moderate effect on student learning outcomes in the fourth grade thematic learning of SDN16 Pontianak Selatan.
