Abstract

This study aimed to describe the guidance and counseling of teachers coaching by the principal (case study of strengthening character education). This research was a case study research with a qualitative approach. The research subjects were school principals, vice principals in the curriculum field, guidance and counseling teachers. The results of the research were as follows: 1) The school work program is determined from several stages, starting with the Student Needs Analysis (AKPD), ending with the determination of the Annual Work Plan (RKT) and the School Budget Plan (RKAS); 2) Determination of a decree in delegating tasks to the vice principal in the field of curriculum guiden and counseling teachers; 3) Implementation of coaching carried out by the principal of guidance and counseling teachers goes according to expectations; 4) The implementation of the guidance and counseling teacher work program has not been fully synchronized with its implementation. In an effort to overcome programs that are not in accordance with the implementation in the field, and a shortage of guidance and counseling teachers, the principal needs to review the work program for guidance and counseling teachers and build coordination with internal parties in schools.
