Abstract

This study is entitled, "Factors causing the low interest in continuing education to tertiary institutions (the case of adolescents in Sepadu Village, Semparuk District, Sambas Regency)". The purpose of this study is to describe the factors causing the lack of interest in continuing education to tertiary institutions (the case of adolescents in Sepadu Village, Semparuk District, Sambas Regency). The research method used is descriptive method with a form of qualitative research. The data source of this research was Regular A sociology education class of 2015 FKIP UNTAN. Data collection techniques used were interview and documentation techniques. Data collection tools used are interview guides, archive books and records. The analysis in this study was presented in a descriptive qualitative manner using 3 informants. The results of this study are: 1. Internal factors that cause the low interest in continuing education to college is the lack of motivation or desire to go to college and want to be independent looking for work. 2. External factors that cause low interest in continuing education to tertiary institutions are economic limitations or expensive tuition fees and social environment factors.
