Abstract

Abstract
This research was conducted using descriptive methods. The reason
researchers used the descriptive method through the stages of data collection,
data analysis, and data presentation was because the researcher wanted to
provide an objective picture of the terminology of community activities related
to the Kapuas River in Pontianak Malay. The form of research used is
qualitative research. This qualitative approach was taken because in this
study the objectives or research objects were limited so that the data taken
could be extracted as much as possible and so that in this study it was not
possible to expand the research object. Based on the results of the study,
researchers found a description of the terrain of terminology in activities in
the Kapuas River watershed Pontianak Malay community found four activities
namely cultural activities, fishing activities, daily activities and tourist
activities with a total of 86 words. All terminology in activities in the Kapuas
River basin of the Pontianak Malay community has 86 lexical meanings and
16 cultural meanings. The implementation of learning using cultural
description text, which is a waste, makes it easier for students to understand
the text because the culture of waste is closely attached to the Pontianak
community living on the Kapuas River.
