Abstract

The general objective in this research is to get clarity on how to help students who have low learning motivation in class VII SMP Negeri 10 Pontianak. This research method is descriptive in the form of case study research. The case subjects in this study were two people. Data collection techniques in this study were observation, interviews, home visits, and documentation. The research data collection tools are observation guide guidelines, interview guides, home visit record format, documentation record format.To overcome the problems experienced by subjects I and II, an approach from the Rational Emotive Therapy counseling model is used to transform irrational thinking into rational case subjects into rational. Techniques for subjects I and II are directive techniques, didactic techniques. The result obtained after being given alternative assistance is the learning motivation of these students has begun to increase and more active in learning. Researcher's suggestion is that case subjects are expected to be able to maintain and increase positive changes.
