Abstract

This research is entitled “Teaching Speaking by Using Chain Story Game”. the purpose of this research is to find out whether or not the use of Chain Story Game can improve students’ speaking skill and to find out how well is the effect of the use of Chain Story Game in improving students’ speaking skill. In conducting this research, the researcher applied pre-experimental research using one sample group with no control group. The data showed that the mean score of the students’ post-test was (11.83) higher than the students’ pre-test (9.67). Furthermore, the research indicated that the effect size (1.43) was categorized as strong effect. The t-obtained (5.12) was higher than t-table (2.228). In conclusion, the alternative hypothesis “The use of Chain Story Game can improve the speaking skill of the second grade students of MTs. Ikhlasul ‘Amal Sebawi in Academic Year 2018/2019“ was accepted and the null hypothesis was rejected.
