KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KRITIS DITINJAU DARI ASPEK EXPLANATION DALAM PENYELESAIAN MASALAH PERBANDINGAN DI SMP

This research aims to find out and explain the students’ critical thinking ability observed from explanation aspect in solving proportion problems of junior high school students in academic year 2016/2017. Method used in this research was descriptive in survey form. Subject in this research was the seventh grade of SMP Santa Monika Kubu Raya with a number of 26 students. Data collection technique used was test and interview. The test results of students’ critical thinking ability observed from explanation were varied; some were high while the others were medium. The test results also showed that there was still a problem in the stating result and justifying procedure indicators. The problem was proven when the students faced the difficulties in writing the necessary information and the reason of a problem solution even though most of them knew the correct solution. The stating result indicator reaches 58.97% with medium categorized; the justifying procedure indicator reaches 66.67% with high categorized; and the presenting argument indicator reaches 41.35% with medium categorized.
