DESKRIPSI KEMAMPUAN MENAFSIRKAN GRAFIK KINEMATIKA SISWA KELAS X SMA NEGERI 3 SUNGAI KAKAP

Abstract


Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan menafsirkan grafik kinematika siswa. Sampel penelitian ialah 55 siswa kelas X  SMA Negeri 3 Sungai Kakap. Enam butir soal tes diagnostik berbentuk pilihan ganda alasan terbuka mewakili tiga indikator kemampuan menafsirkan grafik kinematika yang digunakan dalam penelitian. Ditemukan bahwa kemampuan menafsirkan grafik kinematika siswa sebesar 19,09 % (tergolong rendah). Beberapa bentuk kesalahan penafsiran grafik kinematika adalah: a) pada grafik kecepatan, siswa menganggap percepatan negatif ketika posisi benda berada di bawah sumbu x (41,82%); b) siswa beranggapan grafik merupakan lintasan yang ditempuh benda (60,00%); c) siswa menganggap apabila kurva horizontal (searah sumbu x) maka kecepatan dan percepatan benda tetap (65,45%). Faktor penyebab kesalahan penafsiran grafik kinematika siswa disebabkan kemampuan konseptual dan kemampuan spasial siswa yang rendah. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat dijadikan acuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menafsirkan grafik kinematika siswa.

Abstract: This research aimed to find out student’s ability in interpreting kinematic graphs. Graphs interpreting which were used in this research 55 students in class X of  SMA N 3 Sungai Kakap were chosen as the sample. Six open-ended multiple choice items of diagnostic test represent three indicators of kinematic graphs interpreting. The result showed that the student’s interpreting kinematic graphs ability were 19,09 % (low category). Some kinematic graphs misinterpreting were: a) on the velocity graph, students assumed the acceleration was negative when the position of the objectis below the x-axis (41,82%); b) students assumed the graphs was the path by the object (60,00%); c) students assumed when the curve is horizontal (in the x-axis), the velocity and accelertion of the object were constant (65,45%). Kinematic graphs misinterpreting caused by the students’s conceptual and spatial ability were low. These findings are expected to be references to improve the students’s ability in kinematic graphs interpreting.
