Abstract

Many breeders use an antibiotic growth promoter (AGP) in feed which functions to pursue livestock production. The herbal ingredient that has the potential to be used as a feed additive to replace the antibiotic growth promoter (AGP) is the kesum plant. Kesum plants (Polygonum Minus Huds) are typical herbal plants of West Kalimantan. This study aims to determine how the use of kesum leaf flour as a feed additive on the appearance of the production of superior native chicken in the starter phase. This research is an experimental type. The experimental method used in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD), with 1 treatment factor, namely: Bravo 11 complete basal feed added with kesum leaf flour (TDK). The treatment was as follows: P0 basal ration, P1 basal ration 1% TDK, P2 basal ration 2% TDK, P3 basal ration 3% TDK, P4 basal ration 4% TDK. The treatment used 5 treatments and 5 replications. Each replication consisted of 4 DOC superior free-range chickens of the same age. The results showed that the use of kesum leaf flour as a feed additive had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on body weight gain, body weight, and FCR, while it did not have a significant effect (P>0.05) on the consumption of superior free-range chicken feed. starter phase The conclusion of this study is the use of kesum leaf flour as a feed additive with a concentration of 2% can increase the appearance of superior free range chicken production in the starter phase.
