Pengaruh Pemberian Ekstrak Air Bawang Dayak (Eleutherine palmifolia (L.) Merr) terhadap Performa Produksi Puyuh (Coturnix-Coturnix Japonica)

Abstract


Dayak onions (Eleutherine palmifolia (L.) Merr) contain bioactive compounds that can be used as alternative phytobiotics to improve the performance of quail livestock. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of water extract of Dayak onion (Eleutherine palmifolia (L.) Merr) in drinking water on the production performance of quail (Coturnix-coturnix japonica). The research materials used were 250 quails ten weeks old, water extract of Dayak onion, vitamin Mediegg quail and basal feed for laying quail. The research method used a completely randomized design (CRD) which consisted of 5 treatments and 5 replications. Each replication consisted of 10 quails. The treatments consisted of P0 (100% drinking water + 0% Dayak onion water extract), P1 (100% drinking water + 0.06% Mediegg quail vitamins), P2 (100% drinking water + 5% Dayak onion water extract), P3 (100% drinking water + 10% water extract of Dayak onion) and P4 (100% drinking water + 15% water extract of Dayak onion). Parameters observed were drinking water consumption, feed consumption, egg weight, feed conversion, daily egg production and mortality. The results showed that the addition of Dayak onion extract in drinking water had a significant effect on drinking water consumption (P < 0.05), feed consumption (P < 0.05), egg weight (P < 0.05), feed conversion ratio (P < 0.05) and production daily quail eggs (P<0.05), but not significant on mortality (P>0.05). It concluded that the administration of water extract of Dayak onion up to 10% increased the production performance of quail aged 10-16 weeks.
