Abstract

The calculation of the water quality index was developed as an approach to minimize the amount of data and simplify the evaluation of the quality status criteria of a water body so that it is easier to understand the quality in general. This study aims to determine the water quality status of the Cikapayang River which is compared with 3 methods, namely IP, STORET, and CCME WQI using physical and chemical parameters as weights. Based on the research that has been done compared to IP and STORET, the CCME WQI method is the best method that can describe the water quality of the Cikapayang River because it considers the number of parameters below the quality standard, the number of sampling results below the quality standard, and the extent to which the measurement results differ from the quality standard. each measurement result. The results of the CCME WQI analysis show that the Cikapayang River can no longer be used according to its designation because both in the dry and rainy seasons, the quality status shows a poor status. It is recommended to the relevant agencies as managers to take several strategic options in addressing this problem, either the provision of an WWTP unit or onsite treatment to reduce the pollutant load on the water flow. The final alternative solution is to make the designation of the Cikapayang River suitable for Class III or Class IV.
