Abstract

This research was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of five leaves species (Syzygium aromaticum, Melaleuca sp, Cinnamomum sp, Ocimum sp, Syzygium polyanthum Wight) as bioattractant against subterranean termite using bait system and determine concentration minimum of bioattractant which can attract termite using baiting method. The variables measure are the first time termites moving and number of termite that move toward extract. The result of research show that the fastest average of first time termites move toward extract in 10 % concentration is Syzygium aromaticum’s leaf extract at minutes of 02.18, while the longest average first time is control at minute of 108.47. The highest number of termite that move toward extract at concentration 10 % was note at Melaleuca sp (43 individuals), while the lowest number of termite was note at control (7 individuals).

Key Words : Bioattractant, Cinnamomum sp, Coptotermes sp, Melaleuca sp, Ocimum sp, Subterranean Termites, Syzygium aromaticum, Syzygium polyanthum Wight.
