Abstract

Flexible pavement is a pavement that uses asphalt as a binder so that it has considerable flexible properties, consisting of a layer with relatively thin asphalt binder and placed at the top of the top of the subgrade that has been solidified. Rigid pavement is a pavement that uses cement as a binding material so that it has a low eastisity modulus. It usually consists of a cement concrete layer that is installed directly or mediated by a thin layer of foundation over subgrade. The purpose of this paper is to compare the flexible and rigid pavement of the construction structure and the equipment used and compare between flexible and rigid pavement in terms of costs used and for a long period of 20 years. The methodology used is to collect primary data and secondary data and then calculate the thickness of rigid pavement for a 20-year plan life. Pavement Flexibility of 20 years plan with Bina Marga method. After obtaining the thickness of the rigid pavement and flexible pavement then calculate the cost of the two types of pavement while flexible pavement is added to the road maintenance costs. The final result of this study is that the cost of rigid pavement is cheaper than flexible pavement during the 20-year plan life, so that rigid pavement can be an alternative choice of pavement.
