CONTEXTUAL TEACHING LEARNING BASED READING MATERIAL DESIGN
Abstract
Penelitian ini berjudul Contextual Teaching Learning Based Reading Material Design. Bentuk dari penelitian ini adalah penelitian pegembangan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendesain materi reading berdasarkan Pembelajaran Kontekstual yang layak untuk siswa SMP pada semester kedua. Penelitian ini menghasilkan materi reading yang terdiri tiga jenis teks. Teks-teks tersebut adalah teks naratif yang berjudul Kuntilanak, teks prosedur yang berjudul Lempok Durian dan teks deskripsi yang berjudul Tugu Khatulistiwa. Ketiga teks ini dirancang berdasarkan silabus mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris untuk siswa kelas VII sekolah menengah pertama pada semester kedua. Materi reading ini kemudian diujicobakan pada siswa. Setelah itu siswa dan guru akan diberikan kuesioner untuk mengetahui tanggapan mereka akan materi tersebut. Hampir semua responden khususnya guru menyatakan bahwa materi tersebut relevan denagn kurikulum, silabus dan juga dengan muatan lokal siswa.

Abstract: This research entitled Contextual Teaching Learning Based Reading Material Design. The purpose of this research is to design appropriate reading materials based on Contextual Teaching Learning Method for the seventh grade students of junior high school. The form of this research is developmental research. This research produced reading materials which consist of three text types. They are narrative text entitled Kuntilanak, procedure text entitled Lempok Durian and descriptive text entitled Equator Monument. These three text types were designed based on the English syllabus for the seventh grade students of junior high school in the second semester. These materials then tried out to the students. After that the questionnaires were given to the students and the teacher to find out their responses toward the materials. Most of the respondents, especially teacher agree that the materials are relevant to the curriculum, syllabus, and to the students local content.
