This study aims to examine whether there is an effect of the application of the process approach to poetry writing skills based on images in class III Pontianak Public Elementary School 52 City. The method used in this research is the experimental method. In this study, researchers used the Pre-Experimental Design design with the form of One Group Pretest-Postest Design. The population and sample of the study were all third grade students of Public Elementary School 52 Pontianak city which consisted of one class, namely class III, totaling 31 students. Data collection techniques used are measurement techniques and data collection tools used in the form of test instruments. Based on statistical calculations obtained from the average results of post-test class III as an experiment of 67.47, obtained t counts of 18.862 and t table for the significance level (α = 5% )and dk = 23 for 2.042, because t count> t table, then Ha is accepted. So, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence on the application of the process approach to children's poetry writing skills with picture media in class III Pontianak Public Elementary School 52 City. Based on the results of the effect size (ES) calculation obtained ES = 0.63, which is included in (medium criteria). So that it can be said that the application of the process approach provides a good influence on the writing skills of children's poetry in class III Pontianak Public Elementary School 52 City.
