Abstract
This research is driven by the desire to find the form and meaning of prepositional phrases in a collection of short Selection Compass, 2014. The method used in this study is a survey method, see, and descriptive and qualitative terms. Sources of data in this study is a collection of short Selection Compass, 2014. The data in this study were obtained through observation use prepositional phrases in a 2014 collection of short stories containing the Compass selection form and meaning of a prepositional phrase. The technique used in this study is a reference technique and recording technique. Data collection tool used in this study is the researchers themselves as a key instrument. In addition, researchers also use these tools as a means to collect data recording main card. Based on data analysis researchers have done can be concluded that there is use of a prepositional phrase on a short story Women and Ants in Head Works Anggun which consists of 22 forms, Joyeux Anniversaire work Tenni Purwanti consisting of 22 shapes, First Boyfriend Vika Wisnu 25 forms, deadline Djenar Maesa Ayu of 23 forms. In addition, in four short stories there is also the sense of place relationship, meaning the time relationship, the meaning of the relationship how-tool-offender, meaning a causal relationship, and the meaning of other relationships.
