KEMAMPUAN MULTIREPRESENTASI SISWA SMP DALAM MENYELESAIKAN SOAL PESAWAT SEDERHANA
Abstract
Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendekripsikan kemampuan multirepresentasi siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal pesawat sederhana di SMP Negeri 12 Pontianak. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei. Melibatkan sebanyak 60 siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 12. Instrumen penelitian berbentuk soal uraian sebanyak 6 soal dan wawancara melibatkan 9 siswa. Hasil jawaban dianalisis untuk mendeskripsikan representasi apa saja yang disajikan siswa, mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa dalam merepresentasikan konsep pesawat sederhana dan mendeskripsikan kesulitan siswa dalam merepresentasikan konsep pesawat sederhana. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan representasi yang disajikan siswa adalah representasi verbal dengan rata-rata persentase jumlah siswa 85,8%, representasi gambar dengan rata-rata perentase 64,7% siswa dan representasi matematis dengan rata-rata persentase 80,8% siswa. Dari ketiga representasi siswa banyak membentuk representasi matematis dan tergolong tinggi. Kesulitan siswa pada representasi verbal yaitu tidak dapat mengartikan kembali maksud soal, kesulitan representasi gambar yaitu tidak dapat membuat gambar dari informasi soal dan kesulitan representasi matematis yaitu tidak dapat menentukan rumus yang digunakan.

Abstract: This research aimed to describe students’ multirepresentation ability in solving simple machine problems in SMP Negeri 12 Pontianak. This research used survey method and involved 60 students of eight grade SMP Negeri 12. The research instrument formed in essay which consisted of 6 items and interview which involved 9 students. Result of the research was analyzed to describe kind of representation presented by the students, describe the students’ ability in representing simple machine concept. Result of the data analysis showed that representation presented by the students was verbal representation with average percentage of the students was 85.8%, visual representation with average percentage of the students was 64.7%, and mathematic representation with 80.8%. Based on the three representations, many students made mathematic representation and it was high. The students’ difficulty in verbal representation is unable to interpret the problems. The difficulty in visual representation is unable to make a picture based on the problems. Whereas, the difficulty in mathematic representation is unable to decide which formula can be used.
