KEMAMPUAN PROBLEM SOLVING DAN KOMUNIKASI MATEMATIS DENGAN PROBLEM BASED LEARNING BERSTRUKTUR CERITA KONTEKSTUAL
Abstract
Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan problem solving dan komunikasi matematis dalam pembelajaran persamaan kuadrat dengan problem based learning berstruktur cerita kontekstual lebih baik daripada pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini merupakan studi eksperimen berbentuk pretest-posttest control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X SMAN 2 Sungai Raya yang terdiri dari enam kelas. Sampel diambil secara acak dan kelas yang terpilih yaitu X A (kelas eksperimen) dan X D (kelas kontrol). Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa (1) kemampuan problem solving siswa dalam pembelajaran persamaan kuadrat dengan problem based learning berstruktur cerita kontekstual lebih baik daripada pembelajaran konvensional, peningkatan pada semua indikator kemampuan problem solving yaitu memahami masalah, merencanakan strategi, menyelesaikan masalah sesuai rencana, dan pengecekan kembali; (2) kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dalam pembelajaran persamaan kuadrat dengan problem based learning berstruktur cerita kontekstual lebih baik daripada pembelajaran konvensional, peningkatan pada semua indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis yaitu menggambar, ekspresi matematis, dan menulis.

Abstract: This research aims to analyze the problem solving and mathematical communication skills in the instruction of quadratic equation with structured contextual story problem based learning better than conventional learning. This is an experimental study in the forms of pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study were students of grade X SMAN 2 Sungai Raya which consists of six classes. Sample was taken by random sampling and the selected class is X A (experimental class) and X D (control class). The result showed that (1) problem solving skills of students in the instruction of quadratic equation with structured contextual story problem based learning better than conventional learning, increased in all indicators of problem solving skills are understanding the problem, devising a plan, carrying out the plan, and looking back; (2) mathematical communication skills of students in the instruction of quadratic equation with structured contextual story problem based learning better than conventional learning, increased in all indicators of mathematical communication skills are drawing, written text, and mathematical expression.
