KARAKTERISTIK PASIEN TUBERKULOSIS YANG MEMPEROLEH PENGOBATAN KATEGORI 2 DI UP4 PROVINSI KALIMANTAN BARAT TAHUN 2009 2012
Abstract
Background: TB patients who receive category 2 treatment (retreatment
case) are at high risk for resistance to anti-tuberculosis drugs regimen and
are able to develop Multidrug Resistance Tuberculosis.
Objective: to describe the characteristics of TB patients who received
category 2 treatment at Pulmonary Disease Medical Care Unit of West
Kalimantan in 2009-2012.
Methods: This was a cross sectional, descriptive study, and the
characteristics data were taken from the medical records. Univariate data
analysis was used to describe the distribution of each variable, such as
age, gender, occupation, patients TB type, diabetes mellitus (DM) history,
health care facility where he/she took TB treatment before, sputum
conversion at the intensive phase and at the continuation phase,
compliance to the treatment, and outcome of the treatment.
Results: 26 TB patients who received category 2 treatment were included.
Most of the subjects were at the age between 25 34 years old (26,9%),
male (80,8%), servant (46,2%), relapse type (50%), did not have diabetes
mellitus/DM (84,6%), had history of receiving TB treatment at Puskesmas
(73,1%), had sputum conversion at the intensive phase (61,5%) and at the
continuation phase (69,2%), and were complied to the treatment (88,5%).
The cured (57,7%) patients were mostly at the age between 15 24 years
old (100%), male (61,9%), relapse type (61,5%), had DM (75%), had
sputum conversion at the intensive phase (81,3%), and were complied to
the treatment (60,9%).
Conclusion: Prevention for retreatment TB case is the main priority
because the cure rates tend to be low.
